The Roles of SEO Strategists and its Pros and Cons [Search Engine Journal]

If you are new to the Internet Marketing world, knowing that you can dabble on a lot of things could be overwhelming. But when you eventually get the hang of it, you will notice that you can work on one area and do related freelance work on the side.

The same thing goes to Brandon Seymour who works as an in-house SEO manager while doing some consultant work on the side. That’s why in his latest post, Making the Switch from In-House to Consultant SEO, he compared in-house and consultant based SEO roles.

For SEO strategists and many other marketing professionals, there are three primary roles to choose from: you can work as a consultant, as an in-house team member, or work for an agency. Many SEOs, myself included, have worked in combination of these sectors and can tell you that each has its own set of pros and cons.

That being said, Seymour also shared on search marketing news site Search Engine Journal the key differences of each role, as well as how in-house SEOs can build a profitable consulting business on the side.

Brandon Seymour is a regular guest columnist for SEJ. See all of his posts here.
